Greetings!

Greetings and salutations.

As of August 24th, I am officially a 1L.
Like most people starting Law School, I went through a rollercoaster of emotions—not knowing the first thing about what to expect. Watching movies like The Paper Chase or reading Scott Turlow’s 1L did little to calm the nerves (perhaps it was for this very reason that Deans and the like advised against it).

Getting a legal education is unquestionably a petrifying endeavor. However, I anticipate the next 3 years to be just the beginning of an incredible journey towards whatever end the world has in store for me.

I have been blessed with the unique opportunity to be a member of the Inaugural Class at the University of California, Irvine School of Law. For 61 students and 22 professors last Monday marked more than simply the first day of school. It was a historic moment in each of our lives, a historic moment for the UC Irvine campus, and a historic moment for the state of California.

As the first public law school to open in over 40 years we have an exciting and undoubtedly challenging road ahead. The uniqueness of this opportunity has inspired me to start a blog journaling the experience. I hope to share with you the day-to-day adventures of a 1L, of an Inaugural, and simply of a person trying to reconcile all the craziness that is life.

Shall we?
